In September, 1st Tarvin Beavers, Cubs and Scouts restarted meetings on Zoom and at home. Despite the different environment, the real thrill of Scouting is being outdoors, nearly all the members continue to take an active part.

The Scouts have also enjoyed two bike rides in Delamere. This required significant preparation to meet the requirements of the Dept. for Culture, Media and Sport as well as the Scout Association's own rules.
On the 28th and 29th of September everyone had been briefed, hand sanitised and markers were in place, the rain held off and we were able to meet in two groups for 'socially distanced' bike rides around the forest.
The event was enjoyed by everyone, the only minor upset being losing Tarvin's vicar in the forest for a short period.

Thank you to all the leaders and parents who helped.

The Group look forward to holding similar events for all sections but have decided to revert to Zoom meetings whilst the Covid infection rate in the area remains high.

On-line the sections have recently enjoyed a beatboxing session, scavenger hunts, learnt navigation skills and many other activities as they work through their challenge badges. This weekend after a number of virtual County led camps using YouTube and Facebook, it is the Jamboree on the Air and Jamboree on the Internet where they have the opportunity to meet with other Scouts from around the world.

And we are looking for adult volunteers to work with us.

Specifically 1st Tarvin Scouts are looking to recruit an additional Assistant Scout Leader, but we also are looking for Occasional Helpers and Executive Members.

Volunteering in Scouting is very flexible – any time commitment up from an hour every couple of weeks considered. There is loads of information on line at scouts.org.uk, training is provided and you'll get to work with a great bunch of people of all ages. Scouting skills are for life.
