This year the Tarvin tidy up had to be postponed from the original date of March 3rd and re-scheduled for
Saturday 10th March from 09:30 to 12:30 due to the bad weather anticipated the first weekend and to keep volunteers safe and well.

On 2nd March all of the village organisations and village centre businesses (from Tarvin Online directories) were emailed to let them know the revised date for the Village tidy up. Also 2 posters displayed on High Street and Community Centre were edited.

There were a few apologies from people who often turn up and in the end 8 people helped on the day- 1 from Parish Council, 3 from the Woodland and 4 individuals.
The Gardening Club tidied the flower border opposite the Post Office on the day before.

In and around Tarvin 15 bags of Rubbish were collected- a combination of dropped litter, wind blown household waste and food and drink containers thrown from vehicles. Other items included Estate Agents signs left on the ground presumably after windy weather or vandalism.

Several full dog poo bags were carefully recovered from undergrowth (a most unpleasant task).
And whilst on this subject a full plastic bottle- most probably thrown from a Lorry on A51 had to be discarded- apparently some drivers haven't got time or access to toilets to bother stopping.

Many thanks to all of those volunteers who did turn up to help. Tarvin was certainly left tidier for a while as a result.

Peter Ryan (the Parish Council Chair) organised a similar tidy up around Oscroft 1 week after Tarvin. with a good turnout of volunteers.

The Clean-up around Tarvin was part of the Great British Spring Clean 2018.

Keep Britain Tidy is an independent charity with three goals ' to eliminate litter, end waste and improve places. This means more to us than just picking up litter. It means creating clean beaches, parks and streets. It means creating sustainable practices and eliminating unnecessary waste.
It's about working with people, businesses, organisations and public bodies to care for the environment on our doorstep.

People have a right to live and work in places they can be proud of and prosper in.
