At St. Andrew's Church Tower on Thursday 22nd December Ben Kellet led a team of volunteers who kindly refitted the headstock and 5 clappers following repair work carried out by Taylors at their Loughborough bell foundry.
As a final part of the day's work the team then tested the repairs by ringing the bells and the difference in the tone was audible to all. The last phase of the project is to refit the tenor clapper which is still with Taylors. Currently
this is held up as repairs made to the tenor clapper in previous years have made it a more complicated repair and, therefore, requiring specialist attention.
Thanks go to Ben, Simon, Roy, Richard, Patrick and Linda for their time and effort in enabling the bells to be available to ring in time for Christmas.
