Supported Lodgings for Young People

The national youth charity Depaul UK are working with Cheshire West and Chester Council to find Supported Lodgings hosts. Our aim is to find local heroes, just like you, who are willing to offer up a spare room, a regular cooked meal and a listening ear. If you have a spare room and the willingness to open your home, you could support this initiative and provide a safe space for a care-experienced young person.

Cheshire West and Chester Council want to create brighter futures for care-experienced young people, aged 16-17, through a supported lodgings scheme with Depaul UK. This heart-warming initiative places young individuals with volunteer host families, offering a safe environment to pursue their studies and achieve success.

The project recognises that this can often be a challenging age for these young people as they are fast approaching independent living and often lack the knowledge and skills to make such a transition. Depaul UK aims to bridge this gap by working with multiple agencies and the local community in an attempt to increase the number of young people living in safe and stable homes.

This project presents an incredible opportunity for you to positively impact the lives of a care-experienced young person. By providing a sense of stability and belonging, together we can work to empower these individuals to thrive and shape a brighter future.

Each host family will receive weekly payments to aid them in covering the costs associated with hosting. In addition to this continuous support, we extend a 24-hour on-call service to ensure that help and advice is readily available outside of regular office hours.

Success stories from similar supported lodgings projects across the nation have demonstrated the incredible positive impact they can have on young lives. Cris, a previous supported lodgings host from Oldham Supported Lodgings said, "I'm nothing special, just a single mum whose children has flown the nest, but it has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done."
