20th May 7.30pm at Tarvin Community Centre
The Tarvin Christmas Market has traditionally taken place on a Saturday in December in the early evening with the High Street closed to traffic. The event is open to all and is for the benefit of the local community. The success of the event has been the result of the Committee's work throughout the years (helped by the weather). Repeated requests for new volunteers last year failed to appoint key members of the committee, and resulted in the event being cancelled. The Methodist Church did step in and ran a Christmas Fair in the church in the afternoon.
Tarvin Christmas Market is making a final appeal for the following key volunteers to allow the market to go ahead in 2024:
1. A Chairperson to head the market committee and take overall responsibility for the event. All existing documentation will be passed to the person to help with the tasks.
2. A Secretary to prepare agendas, complete minutes and liaise over the event documentation with the local authority.
3. A person to take overall responsibility for the booking of the stalls, checking of relevant documentation and planning of stall layout; both prior to the market and on the day.
The committee already includes a marketing member, pancake stall organizer, a treasurer and assistant treasurer, plus two potential new committee members. None of the existing committee members are in the position to step up to the more demanding roles listed above. There are also volunteers willing to help on the actual day but not able to make any greater commitment.
Please come to the Extraordinary meeting to hear more about what is involved to volunteer, have your say and be part of the Tarvin Community.
